What's Your Credit Score?

Check Credit Score

Check your credit scores before you go house hunting.

You need to frequently check your credit history for any errors.  Posting errors do occur and you can easily have someone else’s credit items on your report, especially if you have a common name or are a Sr. or Jr. in the family.

Other problems that occur are items that have been paid, and are not reported as so, in your credit history.  Look for accounts that you have previously paid in full and make sure that they reflect a zero balance on your credit report.

Another problem I see often is when you have established a payment plan with a creditor on a debt and you are making payments then very often these creditors are not reporting your payments.  This causes that debt to continue to age as bad debt on your credit report, continuing to affect your credit scores negatively.
